Inclusion
We publicly commit hereby that our faith community is Welcoming and Affirming. We declare that in each of our communities, people of all races, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, gender identities, and gender expressions are seen, accepted, and honored as Divine expressions. We welcome ALL visitors, friends, and neighbors, and offer a community where ALL can belong as integral parts of our communities, including in services, events, membership, leadership, employment, teaching, and/or ordination as clergy. We acknowledge that in the past and present, faith communities, including our own, have oppressed and condemned many people unjustly, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, women, indigenous peoples, and other minority groups. We believe these judgments and actions were the acts of humans, not of any higher power. We seek to offer a place in which ALL of our visitors, friends, and neighbors can explore faith without judgment, as we explore faith, as equals, side by side with them. We are grateful to be part of a coalition of inclusive communities, because we have found that diversity increases our empathy and profoundly deepens our faith.
Core Values
Walk with God.
This movement is about connecting directly to God on an intimate and uniquely personal level. You don’t look like anyone else; neither should your faith. When you regularly seek the presence of God, you’ll notice God’s greatness in ways entirely unique to you. CrossWalk Sunday gatherings are meant to help you connect with God on a regular basis — through the ups as well as the downs of life, when faith feels easy and equally when it feels impossible.
Walk with others.
We, as humans, are not made to live in isolation. We are inherently social beings; we need each other to love and be loved. God often shows up most clearly in community: brave, generous, full of grace (even if individually we are also sometimes clumsy, messy or shy). Our broader Napa and North Bay community organizations as well as our more specific CrossWalk Groups offer opportunities to learn from and lean on peers, deepen relationships and repair our broader social fabric… and have fun!
Go be Jesus.
When we’re focused only on meeting our own needs, we only get so far in our relationship with God. But when we do something that makes a difference for someone else, our faith really grows. Why? Because that’s what Jesus did: He served a world in need. When we do what Jesus did, we experience what Jesus experienced: more and more of God. So, we look for opportunities to care for people all around us or even half a world away. This outward-looking, service-focused approach to faith is a hallmark of truly progressive churches like CrossWalk.
